Cardi B Name-Drops Divisive Former WWE Star On New Track

On July 1st, Cardi B dropped the lead single from her as-yet-untitled sophomore album “Hot Sh*t.” On the track, the proud New Yorker joins forces with Kanye West and Lil Durk to stake her claim as the self-professed baddest b*tch in the game.

The single has also caught the attention of wrestling fans as the WAP rapper references former WWE Superstar Jimmy Snuka.

“Now this is that hot sh*t, Jimmy Snuka off the top rope, superfly sh*t (Fly)”

Following the release of the track, fans of the rapper took to social media to point out that she is a huge wrestling fan and that was the reason for the line referencing the star. Cardi herself went on to back this up, commenting that she hoped younger fans would know who she was talking about.

Jimmy Snuka’s daughter and current WWE Superstar Tamina later shared her own response, writing that she knew exactly who the star was talking about. SmackDown Superstar Natalya also replied, commenting that wrestling loves Cardi right back.

Cardi B’s wrestling fandom shouldn’t come as much of a surprise as her track “Up” was the theme song for SummerSlam 2021, and she previously got embroiled in a Twitter spat with Lacey Evans.

Jimmy Snuka began his wrestling career in 1970, and enjoyed his most famous moment in the ring 13 years later, leaping from the top of a steel cage onto Don Muraco at Madison Square Garden. Snuka was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 1996, later passing away in January 2017.

The former WWE star left behind a complicated legacy. He was arrested and charged in relation to the 1983 death of his then-girlfriend Nancy Argentino in September 2015. The charges were eventually dismissed shortly before his death after Snuka was first deemed mentally unfit, and then too ill to stand trial.
